David A. Meek II


David’s practice focuses on representing clients across industries in complex commercial litigation, appellate, and regulatory matters. He has extensive experience representing entrepreneurs, banking institutions, financial services providers, commercial landlords, and more than twenty Fortune 500 companies in state and federal courts throughout the U.S. and advisory roles. He manages and litigates contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, commercial landlord-tenant disputes, and commercial foreclosures. David also serves as local counsel for national law firms on complex matters pending in state and local courts in the Central Florida area.

In addition to his litigation practice, David advises clients on issues of business and deal structuring, real-estate transactions, TCPA and other state and federal statutory compliance matters, and federal contracting bid challenges.

David approaches every matter from a business perspective, tapping into his business and finance education to understand the client’s wants and needs from his clients’ perspective, and then utilizes his knowledge and experience in the practice of law to formulate an approach to achieve the desired results.

Shareholder Disputes

Representation of well-known international golf equipment manufacturer in dispute with co-owner of US affiliate involving complex issues of international law, shareholder rights, and self-dealing, resulting in full ownership of the US affiliate by client on favorable pre-trial terms.

Representation of growth company in complex contractual dispute with a founding shareholder seeking a seven-figure damages award, resulting in a $0 arbitration award at the conclusion of a three-day arbitration hearing.

Representation of national mobile-home park owner in complex dispute with minority shareholder concerning allegations of shareholder oppression, financial and managerial malfeasance, and breaches of fiduciary duty resulting in full ownership of underlying company and assets in pre-trial resolution on terms favorable to client.

Real Estate

Representation of numerous commercial landlords, including Fortune 500 and publicly traded real estate investment trusts (REITS), throughout Florida in complex landlord-tenant disputes involving unique issues of law, significant damages awards, CAM reconciliations, counterclaims, and proof of physical damage to the leased premises.

Achieved early-stage dismissal of petition to overturn development plan tied to significant multi-family development project in Orange County, Florida on behalf of property developer client, permitting development to proceed on schedule.

Representation of landlord in two long-term land leases in eviction and damages dispute resulting in prompt return of properties, entry of multi-million dollar judgments for damages against tenants and guarantors, including decades of accelerated rent, which results were upheld on appeal.

Representation of Grammy-winning musician in dispute with contractor and more than a dozen subcontractors concerning significant construction defects in nearly three-acre lakefront estate, resulting in significant monetary settlement in favor of client.

Representation of national banking association in management and prosecution of portfolio of complex residential-foreclosure matters, including upholding multiple final judgments on appeal.

Financial Institutions

Representation of a national banking association against a putative class action, resulting in a defense judgment before commencement of class-related discovery or certification.

Representation of floor-plan financing company as part of a team of attorneys in series of complicated UCC-based lawsuits; responsible for the recovery of millions of dollars of judgments and the recovery of hundreds of high-end boats and recreational vehicles throughout Florida.

Representation of national banking association in series of commercial foreclosures throughout Florida, obtaining millions of dollars of judgments and recovery of mortgaged real property, including management of court-appointed receivers.

Regulatory and Government Contracting

Representation of significant medical-staffing contractor in two complex appeals filed by competitor challenging government contract awards before the Office of Hearings and Appeals of the U.S. Small Business Administration, resulting in a complete victory by way of dismissal of both appeals.

Representation of numerous clients in litigation related to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the Florida Telephone Solicitation Act (FTSA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act (FCCPA).

Representation of a medical services provider in bet-the-company litigation against industry-leading competitor involving federal and state regulatory-based allegations of wrongdoing, resulting in a favorable pre-trial resolution for client.

Representation of prominent Olympic gold medalist in significant contract dispute with former manager, involving complicated web of endorsement and other income.

Representation of numerous clients in appellate matters before multiple Florida District Courts of Appeal.

Community Involvement

David is an active member of Board of Directors of the First Tee-Central Florida where he serves as the chair of the Governance Committee and is the immediate past President.  David has served on numerous other non-profit boards and is a frequent volunteer for worthy causes in the Central Florida community and enjoys connecting acquaintances within the non-profit realm.

Education and Experience

David graduated cum laude from Indiana University Maurer School of Law; he was an editor of the Indiana University Journal of Global Legal Studies and was awarded Oral Advocacy Honors in the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition. Concurrently he earned an M.B.A. in Finance from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. Previously David had a private law practice with an Am Law 100 firm.


David is a member of the Florida bar and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida.


David and his wife, Laura, are the proud parents of two daughters.  When not chasing his daughters around the house and playground, David enjoys playing golf, cooking, reading, and exploring the West (and Montana in particular).
