Our team represents entities grappling with complex constitutional issues concerning the First Amendment and its intersection with media law.
We have represented local, regional and national media entities in defending defamation and invasion of privacy claims and reporter subpoenas. We have counseled individual reporters, editors, and publishers on issues such as news gathering, protecting sources, avoiding defamation suits, and other Constitutional issues.
We regularly performed prepublication review and advised on risks associated with various stories. We have represented reporters in accessing public records and courtrooms. We further have significant experience enforcing Florida’s Public Records Act, as well as (in capacity as outside counsel) addressing public records issues for governmental agencies.
